Read, Run, Repeat

A tale of fitness, books, food, and life in between

Let’s Play Catch-up! Easter, BBB, and TWITTER!

Happy Tuesday readers! Guess what I woke up to this morning — SNOW. Seriously, I know that I live in NY, but enough is enough #where the hell is spring? I am currently on spring break from school, and have been taking some time to re-charge, reflect, and of course, make some lists 🙂

So, here’s what’s been going on in my world: Easter was a lot of fun – I dyed some eggs with my two favorite boys

and we also decided to cook dinner at our house, hoping to lessen some stress on my parents and brother. We missed out on Easter dinner with P’s family, which really kinda stunk, but we felt that was the best decision at the time. Plus, P successfully made his first prime rib! score!

Plus, the Easter bunny stopped by two times! I woke up to some yummy goodies, including my two absolute favorites — jelly beans and Cadbury eggs… YUM-O.

Also this week, Better Body Bootcamp started! I spent some time on Sunday doing my “before” fitness test and took some measurements. I was pleasantly surprised with some of my fitness test items – especially my plank time, as I was able to beat my previous PR and held it for over 2 minutes!

Yesterday I made it through the first workout – and I even talked P into joining me for the strength portion, which made it that much more fun! It felt a little awkward, as I am learning all the various moves and going back and forth between several documents, but I’ll get the hang of it! I am so excited to see the results from this new program – plus, it’s pretty cool to have most of my workouts already planned out – today is some interval-type cardio 🙂

Also a part of BBB5 is to set weekly goals for yourself – accomplishing both the workouts and your goals enters you to win prizes — always helpful for motivation! This week, I chose to focus on hydration and sleep – 2 things that I feel like I am constantly struggling with. My goals are to drink at least 32 ounces of water every day (I’m hoping to increase that next week), and to meditate for at least 5 minutes before bed. Last night I listened to an 18 minute guided meditation, and I really felt like it helped me sleep!!

Blog news: the blog is FINALLY on twitter! You can find me @readrunrepeat2  I’m a newbie to twitter, so I’m still figuring it out 🙂 But I’m totally excited to learn something new 🙂 So, come follow me 🙂

and finally, and certainly not least – The month of April is Autism Awareness month and Today, specifically is Autism Awareness Day. As you all know, I work with students every day who are on the Autism Spectrum. I urge you to wear blue and “light it up blue” today, as we spread the word about Autism.

I picked up a bouquet of flowers for my table from a local supermarket, and I was pleasantly surprised to see them sporting Autism Awareness paraphernalia 🙂  Practice acceptance, tolerance, and compassion today friends 🙂
