The Beauty Secret EVERY Woman Should Know {+ blogiversary Simone-France GIVEAWAY -CLOSED}

I have struggled all my life with my skin. As is usual, I started breaking out in middle school – it got so bad that at one point I did see a dermatologist and was prescribed good ol’ “Retin A” to help me combat the issue. I battled the acne for a long time – at least it sure felt that way to me! But, eventually, nature took its course and everything evened out – I still break out, but typically it’s only a few here and there. In my mind, however, the aftermath of the “Acne Battle” remained, and I’ve always not been in love with my skin – the size of the pores, the dry/oiliness, or the overall look of it.

A few months ago, I started to read some amazing information and accounts of people who were using a product line from Simone France. I was immediately intrigued, as their skincare line was receiving RAVE reviews!! I contacted the company – and soon after I was in contact with Penny, who was happy to send me a sample. Penny was so wonderful, and we had several conversations about what product would be the best for me to try out; she also urged me to take their free “What’s Right For You” skin survey (which I did! Try it out!) We decided on their famous “Sandwich Method: Your Daily Spa Facial” – and before I could blink my eyes, my products were on my doorstep!

According to the Simone France website, the Sandwich:

  • deep cleans pores and clears blackheads
  • Exfoliates dead skin
  • Brightens a dull complexion
  • Evens out skin tone
  • Redules and prevents fine lines
  • Firms skin
  • Boosts mosturizer performance
  • Balances oilness/dryness
  • Imparts a healthy, rosy glow every day

Sounds pretty sweet, right? The day I got it, I immediately started using the products!

The process goes like this:

  1. Apply light moisturizer all over your face
  2. Dot your face with the refining scrub, then wet your fingertips and gently massage the scrub into your face
  3. Lather up the soap and apply to face
  4. Utilize the signature cleaning cloths to remove products from your face, rinsing as necessary
  5. Splash face with warm water 15 times
  6. Splash with cool water 15 times
  7. Done

Friends, these products are AMAZING. If I could actually sing, I’d sing their praises.

After one use, I could already tell a difference – my skin was softer and it glowed. I couldn’t believe that I saw results that quickly.

Before & After pics (not sure why the color is so off in the first one. I swear, I don’t have jaundice!)

I have continued to use the Sandwich Method for an entire month now. Here’s what I’ve personally noticed:

  • Smaller pores
  • Brighter and more “glowy” skin
  • Less issues with oiliness and dryness
  • More even skin tone
  • Softer skin
  • Less fine lines.

Bottom line is this: I LOVE these products and I would use my OWN money to buy them!! In fact, I will once my samples are all done. The products are THAT good.

Here I am at 30 days of use!

Some other notes:

  • I love the moisturizer. It’s so light and not oily at all
  • I’ve used just the soap in the shower after my workouts to remove the sweat and dirt from my face
  • You could probably utilize a wash cloth instead of the signature cloths – you’d just have to be aware of frequently washing/changing it out for a new, clean one.
  • Yesterday, I went out with not a stitch of foundation on my face. That NEVER happens because I am so conscious of what my skin looks like.
  • I’m still wearing my BareMinerals foundation for work/going out – but I am using FAR less than I was before! And I honestly think it’s just for my own comfort!

    And here I am today!

I’ve been using the Sandwich Method once I get out of the shower – so that I could see what I was doing – and that did take some getting used to! Now that I have the process down, I’d say it takes me about 3-4 minutes. Also – I will NEVER be that highly coordinated model in the face wash commercials that can beautifully splash water on her face. I’ve been doing it for a month now and I make a total mess (and/or bash my face off the faucet) every day. The only other con is, of course, the price – but as I said, I think that these products are SO WORTH the cost! I’m still completely floored by the results. Plus, I’ve used mine for a month now, and haven’t really made a huge dent in the tubs of product (but my signature face cloths are gone). I’d really like to try their “evening routine” products next (or apparently an under eye treatment based on all these photos)! I am totally in love with Simone France’s skincare products thus far.

BUT WAIT. I HAVE SUPER GOOD NEWS FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!

In honor of my 1st BLOGiversary, ONE lucky reader has the opportunity to win their own “Sandwich” from the very generous Simone-France! This includes the moisturizer, refining scrub, soap, and signature cleaning cloths.

Friday Things

YAY IT’S FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And with it comes a bunch of random thoughts for you

  1. First and foremost, the winner of the Simone France giveaway is………. (you’d better be drumrolling!)

Noelle!!! Congratulations!!! Please email me at bvanevera7@gmail.com so that I can hook you up with my girl Penny – also, you’ll want to head on over to Simone France and take their “What’s your skin type” survey 😀

  1. These came in the mail yesterday:

And I am super, super excited to use them today in my race. I’ve head tons of good things about them in the blog world, and I am super tired of my headphones falling out of my ears every 10 seconds!! I wore them yesterday (while I washing dishes), and they seemed really comfy. Time will tell about staying in my ears!

  2. Speaking of my race – forecast currently calls for 60% chance of thunderstorms (which is down from this AM, when it said 90%!) – yeah – not real excited about that … we are running through a local park – and that could get really messy, I’m thinking. I don’t mind running in the rain – but I’m not really thrilled about running through torrential downpour and/or lightening! I hope my shoes can go in the dryer!! PS – I’m going to admit this out loud this time around – I’m shooting for a sub-30 5K – we’ll see what the weather does to my time! I’m also not feeling great, so that could be interesting too.
  3. Yesterday, Fiona got to go to daycare. She looooves it there – and since my mom has been out of town the majority of this week, we thought we would give her a treat and let her have some time to play with other doggies. She comes home dirty – and exhausted!! Check out her photo from last night – see her tongue?

  4. This weekend is supposed to be beautifullllllllll!! P and I have talked about a million different things we’d like to do –but haven’t settled on any one thing. Well except yardwork, I guess. That’s almost a given when you own a house, I suppose.
  5. Last night, my sleep sucked. I had dreams all night about my mother dying. It was AWFUL. Not sure where that came from, but wow – talk about a crappy start to the day!
  6. I hope that you all have some super exciting and/or super relaxing plans for the weekend!! I only have 1 week left of summer school – that’s hard to believe!

Let’s hope that I don’t drown at my race!!! Happy weekends, friends!

Thank You Body, You Are Beautiful

I am so, so, SO happy about today – happy enough to cry, I think! And no, not because I am happier than a camel on hump day 😉 (although I do find that commercial hilarious!) Anyway, today is a big, big, BIG day for a certain little lady in my life …

Today is the first day of 3rd grade for Olivia- and she is back in school!!!!!!!!!!!

Quick re-cap: Olivia (my niece who lives in Geogria) contracted the Epstein-Barr virus back in February, which eventually led to the development of aplastic anemia. This is a blood disorder where the bone marrow becomes damaged and can no longer make stem cells which make red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. She has been through numerous blood draws, as well as blood transfusions, and platelet infusions – as well as about bijillion medications – most of which have some nasty side effects. She has had to be fed through IV since she had no appetite, had a PICC line in her arm, had jaundice, and has had no immune system at all. The past 6 months or so have been spent in and out of the Children’s Hospital in Atlanta. (A couple of months ago, I even urged my readers to become someone’s hero!) You can imagine that it has been a very tough, stressful, and scary 6 months – Livi even had to spend her birthday in the hospital, and she has been out of school that entire time as well

.

A year ago, in VA

In the last 2 weeks or so, she has FINALLY started to signs of improvement, and her body seems to starting to make her blood cells again. So, she is able to return to school and so today is a very, VERY big important day J

With Mom @ school!

This morning, I woke up kinda cranky as well as discouraged and frustrated about my body and not being able to take off the weight that I want to, despite working really hard (in my opinion).

Then I got to thinking about all that my brave niece has been through… and how P is currently experiencing a shoulder injury that is causing him tremendous amounts of pain and makes him pretty much immobile …

I started to look at myself a little differently after that. I was so very THANKFUL that my body is able to do everything I need it to do to get me through the day. I am SO thankful that I am able to move, and breathe, and all my automatic functions do what they are supposed to do! I am THANKFUL for my health and that I am able to move my body every day and push it to make fitness gains. I was able to get my BBBC workout yesterday without thinking twice, even though it was a tough one. Today I will do a longer run and on Friday I am running a 5K race. I am so thankful that I am able to do those things.

There are so many days that I look in the mirror and an unhappy about something or many somethings – my eyes are uneven, I have another pimple, I have ugly scars on my legs, I don’t have a 6pack, but I do have a muffin top, I hate my thighs .. all those things that tend to plague me every day. I am never very thankful for all the things my body CAN do each and every day. That’s a mindset that I need to work on changing. I am lucky for my body and my health.

THANK YOU EYES – for letting me see the beauty in the world, for letting me see the people that I love, and to

THANK YOU BELLY – for turning all that food that I eat into fuel for my body and continuing to keep me going every hour of the day

THANK YOU LEGS– for taking me where I need to go, for letting me run, for letting me experience so many adventures

THANK YOU HEART – for also fueling my body with what it needs to function, letting my love others, and letting me help others

THANK YOU MUSCLES – for working every day to move my body and letting me accomplish what needs to be done, and also what I want to be done… thank you for letting me push you hard on some days and for helping to take care of others.

THANK YOU SCARS – for reminding me of the trauma I’ve been through, for giving me a unique story, for inspiring me to keep moving forward even when it gets hard.

Today, I will be thankful that I am healthy, that I am living, and have a body that lets me accomplish so much each and every day. I will continue to do my best to keep it healthy and strong so that I can continue to set and accomplish goals. My body is beautiful – even without the sculpted muscles and the 6 pack – without the skinnier thighs and the size 2 waist. I am beautiful because of all that I can do every day, because of all the good I can do, because of who I am.

My body IS beautiful for everything that it can do every day. And I will choose to be thankful for that today.

**REMINDER – you can still enter the Simone-France GIVEAWAY and win skincare products for your skin type! It’s open until Friday AM! **

Answer me this: What makes you beautiful? What do you love about your body and what are you thankful that it can do?
