A tale of fitness, books, food, and life in between

June Foodie Pen Pal

on June 30, 2013

Well hello there friends – I know I’ve been missing in action pretty much all this week!! I guess that’s what happens when you’re on vacation! I can’t even tell you that I’ve been up to all that much lately! I am currently fighting off a summer cold, which is starting to make me feel miserable – NO FUN. I’ve also fallen off the bandwagon in regards to eating 😦 … and I don’t think that has helped with not feeling great. Yesterday I was actually craving veggies and salad – a sure sign that I’ve indulged too much in sugar and carbs!! Time to get off the vacation eating, and back onto the health train!

Anywhoo – Friday was the end of the month, so you know what that means – it’s time for a little Foodie PenPal reveal J A little late, but still good! My penpal this month was Chris! I told him that I couldn’t live without my coffee, I enjoyed anything that was chocolate and/or peanut butter, and that while I try to eat healthy, I also have a pretty intense sweet tooth!

Chris sent me some delicious coffee, which I am currently enjoying as I type this post, actually! It’s a medium blend, which typically would not be my first choice, but it really good! Plus, it has a Hawaiian dancer on it, which just makes it feel fancy and vacation-y! He also sent me some yogurt-covered raisins – he told me that they were the best that he’s ever had … and they were yummy! They made the perfect snack before bed 🙂

The other goodies in my FPP box were a single serving of Justin’s Almond butter – a favorite of mine, a single serve nutella cup, and a bag of hershey’s chocolate. Yup, Chris done good J I was a happy FPP this month and have thoroughly enjoyed all of my treats! Thanks Chris!!! 😀

And now it’s time for some details about Foodie Penpals.  In case you’re a new reader, here’s a reminder of what the program is all about:

-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
-Foodie Penplas is open to US, Canadian & European residents.  Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. Same with Europeans. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa.

If you’re from the US or Canada and are in participating for July, please CLICK HERE to fill out the participation form and read the terms and conditions.

You must submit your information by July 4th as pairings will be emailed on July 5th!

In other news – I still need to catch you up on my trip to the Bronx Zoo and my first blogger meet-up – look for posts on those topics soon!! Also, last night I finally decided to “jump” and signed up for a race on July 4th that is 4 miles! This will be my longest race yet, and I’m feeling pretty nervous about it!!

Hope that you are all having a fantastic weekend thus far – the sun is actually out again here today
