Read, Run, Repeat

A tale of fitness, books, food, and life in between

Dear Peter,

5 years ago, if you would have told me that we would have still been going strong, owned our house together, had 3 fur-kids, and would have numerous memories together… I probably would have been a little surprised…

But I would have believed you.

From the moment I met you, I knew that you were something special. And it really didn’t take me too long to figure out that we made a pretty good team! I know that it kinda sounds cliche, but I really feel like I’ve been through everything in my life so that I was ready to meet you. The rest of the world thought that we were a little crazy, just jumping into our relationship they way we did, despite the not-so-great circumstances that we both were in. In fact, we knew that we were a little crazy too.

Apparently, crazy must work for us 🙂

To say that we’ve been through our share of ups and downs would be an understatement! I’ll be the first to say that I’ve kinda put you through the ringer … and tested every limit and ounce of patience that have! You’ve seen me at my worst, and still stuck by me through it all. And you have loved me no matter what.

You make me feel beautiful every day … even if I’m still in my pajamas. You push me to be the best Brittany that I can be … you are able to put me in my place when I need it, build me up when I need that too … or just hold me. You laugh at my stupid jokes and will do just about anything to make me smile.  When I’m stuck on the details, you’re the person who points out the big picture. When I’m stuck in one of my panic modes, you’re the one who points out the many choices I can pick to make things better. I know that you have my back and will support me no matter what I choose to do. Even if I have to get your opinion 1,000 times before I decide!

It’s pretty amazing to fall in love with your best friend.

We work hard to make our relationship work, and you push me to actually communicate with you rather than run away from confrontation — yet you realize that I often need time to process things before I am able to talk. I hope you know just how much I appreciate your wisdom, strength, courage, dedication to US, and love for your family. We truly are a team and I wouldn’t change that for the world. You’re also handsome, smart, funny, and don’t mind going shopping with me either… plus, you cook, help me with the house stuff, and can actually keep a plant alive!  I’m still not really sure how I got THIS lucky.

In fact, looking back over the last 5 years, I wouldn’t change one single moment – bad or good- for that road has led us to now. And I am so, so happy to be here with you. I am so very much looking forward to all our new adventures together.

You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I love you. Happy 5th Anniversary of falling in love. The best is yet to come.
