Show me your love <3

on February 14, 2013

Happy Valentine’s Day bloggers, readers, and friends!!! While I was catching up onblogs this afternoon, I was surprised to read how many people aren’t really “all that into”Valentine’s Day – that it merely a “Hallmark” holiday — I guess I fall somewhere in the middle of “I don’t really care” and “I must have 2dozen roses”? I certainly understand the sentiment that you should show people that you love them every day — but the truth of the matter is, it just doesn’t happen in real life, not every. single. day. People get busy, money has to be made, other activities/events etc become a priority … and those we love can certainly fall to the “back burner” so to speak because we kinda feel like we can catch up on them another day.

I’m guilty of this. Most people probably are. Life just happens, and it can be easy to take those who love us and take care of us for granted. So, I embrace any and every day that reminds me to SHOW the people in my life just how much I love and appreicate them — I really think it’s important for people to feel special. I guess that’s why I put so much emphasis on people’s birthday — I feel like it’s your day to be spoiled and celebrate who you are. I try really hard to show P how I feel about him- but honestly, that’s not always easy.I do get busy, and sometimes I’m cranky, or tired, or concentrated on something else, and once in awhile, he’s pissed me off (isn’t that just all lovey dovey now? haha). I dont want to ever take him for granted or make him feel like he’s not important. I feel extremely lucky to have him in my life, and he’s gotten me through a lot of tough stuff, and has always had my back…. honestly, he’s downright amazing — and I am blessed to have him in my life.  I never knew that love could be this good until he walked into my life. I try to think of Valentine’s Day as my reminder to myself that I should show P that I love him every day — because let’s face it, I can say it a million times, but showing him always speak volumes.  We don’t usually have any big plans for the valentine’s day, and we’ve spent almost every year at home, with P cooking for me … and we actually sit at the table instead of in front of the TV! So this year, we planned to go out for dinner at a semi-fancyish restaraunt, and I am really looking forward to getting dressed up for him, and enjoying some time together outside of the house, without being focused on anything else (aka, “What is Fiona doing now?! What is she eating!?).

I also think it’s important to show others how you feel about them – your family, your friends.  I am extremely close to my family, and a few of my friends have been there through it all with me — heartbreak, disappointment, laughs, adventures, and they have scraped me off the floor. I love them all and feel lucky that they love me back — everyone should be made to feel special, at least once in awhile — life is hard, and sometimes it’s nice just to feel like you are appreciated and loved and someone cares about you. Sometimes, that’s just about doing something nice for youself too 🙂 I know lots of people are down on Valentine’s Day — and think it’s a holiday for couples and an excuse for candy, flowers, and jewelery. But really, I think it’s a nice reminder to show the people in your life how much you value them and love them. And to you dear readers, thank for continuing to read my posts and comment, and make this blog such a fun place — I love you all — and thank you from the bottom of my heart for making me feel like I have neat something to share with you all!!

What are your plans for this Valentine’ Day? How do you celebrate yourself? The important people in your life?

  1. you are so right, we tend to get caught in the busyness and forget about that constant love we get daily.

  2. I think a lot of people get caught up in Valentines mentality that it must be just the lovers but there are so many different ways to love. Your family…your friends, yourself. As always great post. I’m the same way but I must say Valentines day is def one of my more favorite holidays.

Leave me some love!
