A tale of fitness, books, food, and life in between

Twas a wonderful Christmas 2012!

on December 26, 2012

Merry Christmas Blends!!! I hope that you got all your Christmas wishes, and that Santa was very good to you — and that you spent an amazing day with all your loved ones 🙂 I had a very busy, but very fun day! I can’t believe it’s all over already!! I’m taking a little time to relax a little this AM before I start all the cleaning/organizing that is on my agenda today — apparently our first big snowstorm is on it’s way to NY, and we’re supposed to be getting 6-12 inches along with some ice

(I apologize in advance for the long and picture heavy post) … last weekend was spent doing some Holiday baking — we had a ton of fails on Satuday, so at one point, we gave up and started again on Sunday — but the end result was:

I’m happy to say that everything turned out delicious in the end!! Aso on weekend, I got an extra special delivery from an extra special Blend, Miss Elle! My first installment from being the “Best Elf” winner from Elf4Health prize came! There were tons of goodies in my package, and I’m getting emails from other amazing sponsors for all my other winnings — I’m so amazed at all the cool prizes that I’m able to receive!! (Totally dedicating a post to all my gifts!

Christmas Eve was spent wrapping all of P’s gifts while he was at work! I also had to finish up this little craft project:

Date Night Jar!

P and I had so much fun with our Advent Activity calendar and I was feeling sad that it was all over — So I made his this “Date Jar” as one of his gifts!! I’m planning on writing an entire post on how I made the whole thing 🙂 It came out SO cute!! P and I tend to do lots of running around on Christmas Eve and Christmas – we went to church, took a drive through the holiday lights in the park, and then had Chinese food with my parents —

One of my favorite traditions on Christmas Eve is our “one present” that we open – and over the years this has turned into opening that year’s ornament — However, I always give my mom hers in brown paper bag that I decorate with some Christmas scene — this year it was Charlie Brown (i forgot to take a picture) – and my mom hangs them all up. The tradition started because one year, my grandmother forgot to wrap a gift for my mom and put it in a brown paper bag — and then she started putting one gift every year in a brown paper bag. When my grandmother passed away, I didn’t want my mom to miss her brown paper bag, so I put my own twist on it by drawing a picture, and I’ve done it every year since!! I dont always get her an ornament, because they have a TON — this year I gave her “Paydays” her favorite candy, and 2 of my favorite Luna  bars 🙂 P and I ended the night by cleaning up the kitchen, and then he opened his gift from me– new Christmas jammies and hot chocolate mix — we shared some hot cocoa before bed!

Christmas morning started bright and early at our house! P and I open stockings (and Fiona too!) – and then we have cinnamon rolls for breakfast and open some of our gifts at home before heading to my parents’  house!

Merry Christmas!

I must have been a very good girl this year, because I got spoiled ROTTEN!!! The “big wish” this year was gray sweater Uggs — and those were one of the first gifts I opened — I didn’t take them off ALL day. OMG, they are so comfortable!

I also got lots of fitness stuff – clothes, a yoga mat, new Jillian Michael’s DVD, and a Yonana’s machine — I can’t wait to try that out and tell you all how it goes! I also got Zensah compression sleeves in my stocking — I have worn them for the past 2 days and I LOVE the way they make my legs feel! I haven’t used them to exercise yet, but they are like a big hug on my legs — and no pain when I have them on! I can’t wait to see if they make a difference in being able to run!

We had dinner with my family — and P and I made an awesome eggnog cranberry cheesecake – recipe was from Taste of Home – but it was perfect – not to sweet and not too heavy — a good end to the meal!

We finished the day at P’s parent’s house with his parents, brother, SIL and nephews — the adults did a “white elephant” exchange (although P’s mom bought all the gifts) – and I ended up with an electric wine opener – thank goodness!! We had this rinky-dink corkscrew that was IMPOSSIBLE to use — it created some interesting moments!! All in all an absolutely awesome day and I felt so blessed and grateful, although tired at the end of the day!! IMG_5156I definitely indulged more than usual the last few days – and I am feeling it — but I don’t regret it for a second! I ate whatever I wanted, partook in Christmas traditions, and didn’t stress too much when I didn’t get a workout in for 5 days! My body appreciated the rest, and I appreciated living in the moment — but I’m also now ready to get back into my healthy routine – i did drink my protein smoothie before eating a cinnamon bun 😉

If you are still reading — thanks!! 😀 I hope that you have a wonderful day!

XOXO, Brittany
